1. Why are you doing this on Google+?

Answer: Because you need to get current with the tools that will put you at the head of the pack, and Google+ is the new social media site. If you don’t investigate it first then someone will beat you to it; second place does NOT take home the prize. Already, there are firms that are making powerful friends utilizing Google+, and building their business with this platform.

Also:

  1. Google+ enables us to see one another through live video, and unlike Facebook, you don’t need to be a “friend” or “liker” in order to participate.
  2. Unlike Skype, the live video is not limited to one person.
  3. There is no commitment on your part if you just drop in to the hangout, ask your question, and then get on with your other priorities.
  4.  You will gain confidence just by learning something new.

2. Can I join if I don’t have a Google+ account?

Answer: No. In fact, you need a Google+ account to hangout with us.

If you don’t have one, you need to first: Get a Gmail account, and then second: Create a Google+ account.

To get a Gmail account: Go to http://www.google.com and hit the appropriate button ‘Create an account,’ make up a sensible username and password, and follow the process.

To create a Google+ account: Go to the http://plus.google.com while signed in to Gmail, click on the ‘Sign In’ button and follow the process to make your personal page. It is super simple.

To go to Google+: In Gmail, on the upper left you will see a set of bars, and your Google+ page will be first. See below.

3. What makes you gals the experts in this field? What do you have to offer that I can’t get elsewhere?

Answer: We know firsthand the experiences of hundreds of job seekers and mid-career professionals, through the private coaching practice that Catherine Morgan leads, and through the stories that Diane Dolinsky-Pickar hears firsthand at networking events, conferences, and via person-to-person consultations. And we know the online world in a way that others don’t.

Plus, we come at it from different perspectives. You will gain greater insight from two different perspectives when those sparks fly!

4. When I want to participate, where do I go?

You can go to the personal page of either Catherine Morgan or Diane Dolinsky-Pickar. Let’s keep it informal.

  • Open to your Google+ page
  • Type either name into the search bar followed by the first few letters of their firm name (Catherine Morgan is a pretty common name, so add the text Point…automatically it completes)
  • Join by clicking their hyperlinked name, which brings you to their Google+ personal page

5. How do I ensure there are no last-minute snafus?

Take a few minutes to try to connect with us at Google+ before the Q&A time. To enable videochat if it doesn’t load right up, see http://www.google.com/chat/video. To troubleshoot any other aspect of Google+, dig into Google+ support at http://support.google.com/plus.

6. Remind me the time and dates

Every Tuesday in February 2012–the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th–from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Eastern.
